In the Chair - Real People Real Hair - Emily

How many Bobs have you got?

These quick clunky haircuts are becoming prolific as hairdressers become less and less able to layer hair properly. Emily had the very common 3-step Bob. The baseline, a step four inches off the bottom, and a sort of torn irregular piece suggestive of a long fringe. None blended into anything else just an A-Line Bob outline with two more stacked clumsily on top.

1. The Cut

Steps, ridges and shelves are not layers. They are generally mistakes and never fully hidden by chopping into the ends. Emily wanted something a little 90’s retro with more movement and volume when styled in different ways. She found her current haircut difficult to work with. Hard to curl and any wave didn’t last. Seeing the haircut I wasn’t surprised as it was designed to hang flat and straight.

Emily had gorgeous enviable hair, but she was never going to feel it with her old hair cut which could not have taken more than ten minutes to do.

At our consultation Emily first said she wanted five inches off. But on probing I discovered that she really didn’t want shorter hair, but saw it as the only way to stop her hair being flat and feeling so dry.

Once I explained that wouldn’t really solve things and just deliver the same problem back in a few months time, Emily was open to suggestions. The answer was to shape and layer the hair properly which allowed us to keep all the length at the back, get rid of the driest split broken hair and bring the entire shape back to life.

We proceeded to reshape with long layers where everything blended and the energetics were fluidly balanced so the hair could move vibrantly as one. The length stayed the same at the back but we removed excess from the front to blend seamlessly. I think she could now grow this better shape a few inches longer.

2. The Colour

Emily had her hair coloured before we got to meet her. I liked it but the haircut improved it enormously and we brightened it further with a little Silver Blonde Shampoo.

3. The Condition

After the haircut we gave Emily LifeSaver Ultra Pre-wash Treatment. Nothing infuses moisture, strength elasticity and shine quite like this. Emily can continue at home with this unique system of Healthcare for Hair™. Read… The Facts of LifeSaver

My hair has come back to life. It's amazing”- Emily

Preparation
For Emily’s hair we used our hero product LifeSaver ULTRA. This Pre-wash Treatment rehydrates, protects and repairs. Even after just one application it injects strength and moisture into the hair which is the critical element in hair having spring, elasticity and bounce. It gets even better with continual use. We washed with Cashmere Protein Silver Blonde Shampoo and Cashmere Protein UV Protective Conditioner

Styling
A little Thicker Quicker and Volumising Mousse helped give body and control. We used the Large Round Brush Soft Bristle to style. Emily uses a No.1 Brush to stay groomed during the day.
