Flat oily hair? It could be your haircut. Marlenka always struggled to get any life in her hair. She said it always looked flat and felt oily soon after washing. I explained just how the haircut wasn’t helping.
1. The Haircut
The outline and the step layers were angled longer at the front making the hair fall forward and flat. Great on a short Bob, terrible on long hair. It just drowns the wearer around the face, creates a pyramid look of too much hair around the shoulders and too flat around the eyeline. Too much of the roots coming in contact with the scalp will mean the hair picks up more oil more quickly too. I wanted to inject life and movement into the hair and for this we needed proper shaping followed by some cleverly placed colour to give tonal depth to the whole effect. Using our signature Diamond Dry Cut™ method, I took a graduated outline and sculpted face-framing layers through to the back. We then moved onto colour
Berni wanted to shift the colour from mousey to more variable warmer blonde keeping Marlenka’s own natural colour as the contrasted base. This process is gentle on the hair but also gives body to the floppy roots.
A key product for Marlenka’s hair is LifeSaver Treatment. This a not an oil-based treatment and you cannot overuse LifeSaver®. It feeds, hydrates and strengthens hair without weighing it down and gives vibrancy to all hair types. It also helps cleanse and regulate overactive scalps. But particularly for oily scalps our Balancing Scalp Shampoo is very effective in calming the over active sebaceous glands and strengthening hair, using natural actives.
Thicker Quicker is the go-to product to boost the roots and a little Volumising Mousse for the mid-lengths and ends is the perfect combo for maximising volume.

Preparation
We used the LifeSaver Pre-wash Treatment and washed with Balancing Scalp Shampoo and UV Protective Conditioner.
Styling
We used a little Thicker Quicker, Volumising Mousse and the Large Round Brush.
