Flat hair can leave you feeling lacklustre. But it’s usually the result of a poor haircut. In Sian’s case the basic A-Line haircut made the whole effect heavy and flat. We wanted to inject life and movement into the hair and for this we needed proper shaping and layers followed by some cleverly placed colour to give a little intrigue and tonal depth to the whole effect.
1. Cut - The haircut is the most important part of your hairstyle and should do most of the work. If it’s not cut well you will work harder at styling and feel less confident.
Sian’s haircut was typical A-Line with a few random shorter pieces causing an overhang at the front when the hair moved around. Using our signature Diamond Dry Cut™ method, I took a graduated outline and sculpted face-framing layers through to the back. This gave a great shape even without blowdrying. We then moved onto colour.
2. Colour – Jodie our Colour Director is one of London’s handful of elite Colour Masters. Using a combination of foils and balayage she created a warm yet bright textured effect, giving dimension and contrast to the colour. This play on tonal juxtaposition, also helps enhance a sense of movement in the hair.
3. Condition – Key products for Sian’s hair were a) LifeSaver Prewash. This a not an oil-based treatment and you cannot overuse LifeSaver®. It feeds, hydrates and strengthens without weighing hair down and gives vibrancy to all hair types.
And b) Cashmere Protein UV Protective Shampoo and Conditioner nourishes the hair and protects the colour. In fact, nothing we’ve come across keeps colour better than this trio of hero products.
Sian’s finished hairstyle all blends seamlessly and is simple for her to style at home in many different looks.
For Sian’s hair we used LifeSaver Prewash Treatment to rehydrate, then Cashmere Protein UV Protective Shampoo and Conditioner.
StylingA little Thicker Quicker blowdry spray and Volumising Mousse helped give body and control. We used the Large Round Brush to give body and style. Then finally a little Ten Second Transformation to feed and smooth the ends of the hair giving a little shine and texture too.

The cause of endless arguments over hundreds of years. Cream or jam first? In Cornwall the jam goes on first. Apparently this is how the Queen prefers it. The Devonshire method is for the cream first as shown in the image above, but I guess you could always turn it over to

Our kids often ask for a cake or biscuit etc, but I’m very conscious of not letting them have too much sugar. Would you believe they still willingly hand their party bags in to me so I can decide which sweets they can have, rationed over as long as I can get away with! So...
