Thai Ya-Pao Detox Therapy

Thai Ya-Pao Detox Therapy

We recently spent eight wonderful days at RAKxa Medispa in Thailand, the integrative wellness resort that’s already won many awards since opening in 2020.

We loved their holistic approach that covered so many areas across the three main facilities of the resort, all a short walk or cycle from eachother.

RAKxa VitalLife provides medically aligned treatments, RAKxa Gaya covers diagnostic fitness and balance, and the third, RAKxa Jai has all the traditional therapies drawing on Ayurvedic, Chinese and Thai principles, and of course the dreamy hydrotherapy area. Over the coming months I’ll write about the different treatments we had and today it’s traditional Thai.

Restaurants love the visual drama of fire, flambé. Heated brandy over the pudding course or airborne biscotti wrappers with Sambuca liqueurs, all a bit 1980s I know. Now it’s tomahawk steaks aflame in the open plan kitchen. Not called Joan of Arc for nothing, Gaby valiantly proffered her selflessness to test a traditional Thai detox treatment.
THAI YA-PAO detoxifying therapy starts with herbal burning put on the abdomen to relieve congestion, rebalance the body elements and repel the body’s excess air. This is followed by a traditional Thai abdominal massage, which helps clear out any blockages, increase blood flow and encourage circulation in the lymphatic system.

A full body massage at the end of the session aids in alleviating physical discomfort and pain. Cleansing and calming, this treatment helps set you on a detox path to renewal.

“I really loved the whole two hours, and this was one of the most effective cleansing therapies I’ve tried.” - Gaby

Gaby's Bakery - Rosh Hashana Honey Cake

October 05, 2024

If you’ve ever politely eaten auntie's dense, dry and disappointing honey cake, with a crumb like sawdust that scrapes its way past your tonsils, this may not be the treat you're naturally drawn to. But here's a recipe that delivers on the promise of what a honey cake should be. Moist, tender and flavoursome.
