In the Chair - Real People Real Hair - Julie

Coupe Sauvage was the brief. That French term from the 1970s encapsulating all lengths of very layered, textured, vibrant styles that hinted at the sexuality of wild, rampant and raw energy.

And the white hair? Well, growing out tint isn't always successful, most people return to having colour, but Julie's was a rare case where the concentration of white around her face gave the look a brilliance against her young complexion. Yet this also needed some upkeep as blonde and white hair can pick up brassy tones. Our Silver Blonde Shampoo and Conditioner help eliminate these yellow or orange tones and bring clarity back to the colour.

Silvers and pewters are fashionable tones which colourists try to achieve with peroxide and tint but it's usually difficult to get the purity without killing the hair. Hints of red or yellow can linger. Equally important for Julie was to get the cut right so that the hair didn't look tired and heavy around her face. Grey hair can be particularly draining if not cut and styled well.

1. The Cut

Julie's hair hung heavy around her eyes and cheeks so I scooped the fringe around her eyes and graduated it properly into the sides and back. This would allow the hair to flow energetically back and forth but always land in style.

2. Condition

The hair was great quality but because of the length and greyness, it could look and feel frizzy-dry at the ends. LifeSaver Pre-wash Treatments keep the strength, flexibility and lustre in the hair.

3. Colour

Julie's white hair had picked up yellow tones from pollution/oxidation and the faded tint at the ends was making the hair dull. Our Silver Blonde Shampoo corrected this and could be used once every week or two after to keep any brassiness away.

4. Styling

LifeSaver UV Leave-in Styling treatment is a no-brainer for Julie. We applied a few teaspoons and dried naturally. This helps keep hair smooth and define the waves and curls. Julie can apply this to wet hair after washing at home and literally comb through and go. A little Volumising Mousse mixed in gives more hold. And a blend of Ten Second Transformation and Magic Oil in the palm of your hand creates the perfect finishing product for shine and texture.

"I was thrilled with my hair treatment and new cut. Michael just seemed to ‘get’ my hair instantly. He shaped it beautifully and gave me his expert advice on how to blow dry and care for it with the 3''' More Inches products - especially the 10 Second Transformation balm which has been a styling revelation.

It’s also so much more versatile now; I can air dry, diffuse it into curls or blow it dry for a smoother look and it just works. I love it! Thanks so much to Michael and his amazing team.”- Julie

For a long time, the ‘Butterfly’ haircut reigned as the most requested style. But in 2025 and the early months of 2026, ‘Bobs’ took over, and we loved seeing Lily Collins, Ji-young Yoo and Kathy Bates embrace different versions of the trend. From French bobs to blunt cuts and box bobs, each of them wore the style beautifully.

Myths & Misunderstandings - Can I over-protein my hair?
Myths & Misunderstandings - Can I over-protein my hair?

June 11, 2026

Healthy hair is essentially 97% protein and 3% water. The protein provides the structural strength, the water gives flexibility and shine. Hair cannot be overloaded with protein but it can become so dehydrated with heat styling, colouring, and siliconised hair products that you end up losing the 3% water of fresh root hair, and then what is left of the shrunken hair towards the ends is 100% protein and too porous to hold moisture.
