They say history doesn’t repeat itself but it rhymes. I believe that’s true and feel a poem coming in the growing craze for Gummies - mostly expensive sweets masquerading as vitamin pills.
I recently had a new client proudly tell me how she was taking care of her hair with a brand of vitamin gummies. I asked which brand and proceeded to Google the ingredients on the salon iPad. She was more shocked than I was to find the main ingredients were sugars. Tiny amounts of vitamin C and E were present. I gently suggested she may enjoy a bag of sweets separately and take a proper vitamin. Thankfully she laughed and took the point.
I’m old enough to remember the Ribena scandal in the 1970s that Esther Rantzen exposed. Here was a highly sugared (addictive) product being marketed as a vitamin C health drink for children. Even worse, children were being given this in teated and drip-through bottles to wash their teeth in sugar all day long. It was devastating for their oral health and eventually the manufacturers pulled back their advertising and reduced the sugar content.
But later in 2004 some New Zealand students tested another Ribena drink to discover virtually no vitamin C. That led to fines. Then in 2018 some of their ads were banned for exaggerating health claims. Sugar content was reduced to under 5% and questionable sweeteners Acesulfame K and Sucralose added. Ribena was not alone. I guess the answer is to do your own research, and caveat emptor – buyer beware.
I feel there are modern parallels with selling expensive sweets under the guise of vitamin pills which is essentially what many Gummies are.
For years I've taken two each day with breakfast, and along with the rest of my regular regime: Exfoliating Scalp Shampoo, LifeSaver UV, Ten Second Transformation, Magic Oil and the No.1 Brush, I feel it's slowed the last 25 years of hair ageing. It's mostly as it was back then. Minimal deterioration in quality, some genetic thinning, the colour mostly as intense, and so far, very few white hairs.
★★★★★ Best Hair Capsules I’ve Tried
I have always struggled with my hair and feel as though it never grows. These capsules have helped my hair grow so much (I’ve just finished my first bottle and second ordered). My nails feel so much better and stronger too!

★★★★★ Such Healthy Hair
I never had to bother with anything in my youth as my hair was thick and glossy and curly. Having taken a course of these vitamins, it is the best it has been for years. Used to remove loads of hair when I combed through conditioner, but the combination of the no burr handle comb from VC and these supplements, the cashmere protein rich shampoo and conditioner means that in the last few washes, the amount that came off into my comb fitted on top of my little fingernail! I measured it! So glad I have invested in my health in this way.

Healthier hair is often a lifestyle choice. If you are fit, a non smoker, have a good diet, etc. you are not going to get better hair than that coming out of your scalp.
